My Thoughts

Woo. What a ride.

I almost think that The Letting is gonna be the next big hit series.

So, we start off with Veronica (Ronnie), who, I must say is a great an interesting character. She has the right questions (what if the doesn't know he's the devil), and when she learns the truth of the corruption of the government, of what the Lettings really are, she goes off to try to stop it.

This book had me thinking the same things about life, in general. What if the people we see as 'bad' don't see themselves as bad, but see the exact opposite (meaning, we're the bad guys). Are any of us redeemable after we've been brought up to par, even if we've unknowingly done some bad?

"Why? Why does the bad that I've done define me?"

What if this whole government set up and all of us in it are just brainwashed into the corruption?

Then, there's Phoenix (swoon). I felt like he was the perfect partner to Ronnie, that they made each other strong. Near the end, Phoenix (or the situation surrounding him, rather) made me nearly throw something and made me really mad at the author for a bit, but then at the end, Ms. Goldstein was redeemed in my eyes. Oh gosh, how I <3 Phoenix after reading this.

I definitely connected with the characters throughout the book, I'm glad to report-- and that is one of the most important things in a book.

Okay, so something that I would change in would be some of the sentence structure. Some of the written (typed, you know what I mean) was kind of odd, as in some things could've been made into one sentence instead of the two (or more than two) that it was made into. Not such a big deal, but sometimes that just distracts me (yeah, I know, I'm being sort of anal here).

I'm giving this book Four Hearts. This means that I really enjoyed the book, I liked it and all of that, but there would need to be some changes in it that would add that next heart (something that would keep my attention more than it did, to make me not notice the various sentence structure stuff.

I definitely recommend this book to those who like to read about lead female characters, suspense, rebellions, and of course, romance.
